No External Flash Hot Shoe
The Canon EOS M10 comes with a built-in flash, and that would be the only source of lighting you can use with this camera as it is not compatible with an external flash whatsoever.
For this reason, the Canon EOS M10 might not be your best bet for flash photography, neither would it be an amazing choice for shooting in really poor lighting conditions.
No Electronic Viewfinder

Shooting in direct sunlight using the camera’s LCD screen might be really difficult, because very bright light hitting the surface of the screen would make it extremely difficult to see what is being displayed on it. Well, sadly, there would be no way out, since the camera’s LCD screen is the only display on which the photos can be previewed before capturing.
No Auto Exposure Bracketing
One would have expected that a camera of the Canon EOS M10’s level would come with auto exposure bracketing. But well, it doesn’t, and that is quite disappointing.
The absence of the auto exposure bracketing feature in this camera means that it is not your best option for HDR photography. This type of photography is possible without auto exposure bracketing, but it is not very easy.
Slow Burst Mode
With a 4.6 frames per seconds speed on burst mode, the Canon EOS M10 is surely not the best camera for continuous shooting. This camera’s burst mode performance is nearly three times slower than what you get with the Sony a6000.
Basically, the images of moving people or objects you will be getting with the Canon EOS M10 will not be as good as those you will be getting with the Sony a6000, and that is obviously owing to the much slower burst mode speed of the earlier camera.
Few Focus Points
The Canon EOS M10 offers only 49 focus points which are not very many, especially when compared with the 179 that one can get with the Sony a6000. The 130 focus point difference is quite a large one. Therefore, if you want awesome focusing, you know the Canon EOS M10 is far from being your better option.
Average Sensor Resolution
The Canon EOS M10 boasts of only 18 mega pixels of maximum sensor resolution, which is less that what you get with most cameras of its level. And because of this, you will not be getting very many pixels in photos taken with this camera.
More specifically, you will be getting 33 per cent less pixels in photos taken with the Canon EOS M10 than in those taken with the Sony a6000.
Actually, 18 mega pixels is not entirely terrible for a camera that is not pro level, but we have seen cameras (which are not also pro level) with better – a typical example is the Sony a6000. This is the reason we have said that its 18 mega pixel maximum sensor resolution is average.
Average ISO Range
The Canon EOS M10 has an ISO range of 100 to 12800 (this is further expandable to 25600). This is a pretty good range, and will be performing pretty well in low light. However, we think that the maximum could have been higher.
The ISO maximum of the Canon EOS M10 is a hundred per cent lower than that of the Sony a6000, this shows you how much room there is for improvement in this camera.
Basically, you could say that the Canon camera will not be performing as well as the Sony one in low light; first because of the difference in the widths their ISO ranges, and also because of the presence of an external flash hot shoe in one and absence in another.
No Panorama
The Canon EOS M10 does not have any in-camera app that allows you take panoramic photos. So, it is safe to say that this camera will not be aiding your creativity in photography very much.

No Touch Screen
